Fleet Management

From fire trucks and police cars to refuse collection trucks and street sweepers, Public Works' Fleet Management Division maintains the city's fleet of vehicles and equipment - including trailers, lawnmowers, etc. - which now total approximately 2,200 units.

Each month, approximately 1,200 maintenance work orders are completed to ensure maximum safety and life of each vehicle. Our operations are Automotive Service Excellence (ASE)-certified, and we place a high emphasis on preventative maintenance.

Facilities Management

The Buildings Management Division is responsible for care and upkeep of all city facilities, including City Hall, Police headquarters, and various operations facilities. Our architectural unit also provides design and space usage consulting to all city departments and various agencies, has managed major projects such as construction of the Greater Richmond Convention Center and improvements to the Richmond Coliseum, and has overseen many historic renovations of city-owned property including the Landmark Theater and Main Street Station.
